The Tel Aviv District Court rejected Cellcom’s 34 million NIS suit against Bezeq

November 2016

The Tel Aviv District Court rejected Cellcom’s 34 million NIS suit against Bezeq.

Cellcom demanded of Bezeq to pay for text messages when sent from Bezeq to Cellcom. The price was set in an agreement signed by the parties back in 2004, even though the price was hundreds and even thousands percent higher than the price specified in the Communications Regulations. These apply to cellular operators only. Although the Court came to the conclusion that the agreement supports Cellcom’s position, it agreed with Bezeq – that the price required by Cellcom is unreasonable, discriminating Bezeq from other carriers and it is contrary to the provisions of the Communications Act.

Bezeq was represented by our firm – Partner Nir Amodai of the litigation department, Partner Noa Geva of the media department, Attorneys Modi Sherpsky and Almog Gil-Or.
