An update on the enforcement date of the new regulation regarding the “Do not Call me” database
Following our previous update, we note that The Israeli Consumer Protection and Fair Trade Authority (the “Authority”) has announced it will begin enforcing the new regulation regarding the “Do not Call me” database (A database to reduce telemarketing phone calls to consumers – the “Database”) which enters into force on 1 January 2023, only on 22 January 2023.
The Authority announced that as of 22 January, 2023, it will enforce the ban on calling consumers whose telephone numbers are listed in the Database, and a seller who makes such a call is subject to face enforcement procedures, as dictated by law.
Sellers are directed to register on the designated portal for sellers on the Database website at https://dnc.fta.gov.il/business-homepage/, which provides relevant information regarding the sellers’ duties under this new regulation and provides different interfaces for the sellers to check whether a consumer’s telephone number is listed there.
Considering that the new regulation enters into force on 1 January 2023, we recommend our clients to already register on the sellers’ portal in the Database website, and to comply with this new regulation.
