A request to issue an injunction against converting the Ashkelon power plant from coal to gas was rejected

February 2021

The Tel-Aviv District Court denied a motion filed by Darom Natural Gas Ltd. for a temporary injunction against the performance of an agreement between our client, Israel Natural Gas Lines (INGL), and the IEC – Israel Electric Corporation.

The agreement was executed as part of a national project of the Ministry of Energy to convert coal-fired power generation units to natural gas.

Following a court hearing, the District Court denied Darom Natural Gas’s claims. The Court accepted INGL’s arguments and ruled, inter alia, that both the chances of the main proceeding and the balance of convenience do not justify granting an injunction.

INGL was represented by Adv. Ran Sprinzak, Chen Neeman, Dafna Tadmor, and intern Jonathan Hasdai.
