Regulations impact on the digital landscape during times of war
October 2023
Since the horrible atrocities made by Hamas against innocent Israeli civilians on October 7, we are witnessing a very high traction of violent, inappropriate and hate content throughout the internet and specifically on social networks, as part of Hamas and its supporters’ battle over consciousness of the public. We also see soaring amount of their deceptive and false content distributed by them against Israel to affect the narrative of current war. Those events caused the European Commission to use the Digital Service Act (DSA) in a precedent move – against the large social media companies, in open letters to their managers.
