Ministerial Committee for Legislation Approves Proposal for Reform of the Privacy Protection Law
Last week, the Israeli Government has adopted a bill to amend the Israeli Privacy Protection Law, that will promote privacy laws in Israel to be aligned with advanced privacy laws and specifically with the GDPR. The 14th Amendment to the Israeli Privacy Protection Law will significantly increase the regulator’s enforcement powers with increased sanctions cap. Also, the amendment will undermine the old obligation to register databases, shifting the focal point to manage internal records instead (similar to GDPR).
