The Supreme Court has overturned the District Court’s decision that had accepted a request to certify a class action against Bezeq that was valued at 63 million NIS
After the Haifa District Court’s decision to certify a class action against Bezeq, the Supreme Court granted our request for leave to appeal.
The claim in the request to certify a class action was that Bezeq has violated the Consumer Protection Law by not specifying the breakdown of the fixed fee charged for using a telephone line, and therefore must return the fixed fee to all its customers.
The Supreme Court accepted Bezeq’s appeal, annulled the decision to certify a class action, and denied the request for a class action certification.
The Supreme Court’s decision has wide ramifications for many service providers relating to the obligation to specify the fixed payment that appears in the invoice sent to customers.
Bezeq was represented in this proceeding by attorneys Ran Sprinzak, Nir Friedman and Yael Zaira.
