Corporate, Environmental & Social Responsibility

ESG Report

At EBN, our commitment to sustainability, responsibility, and ethical business practices has been integral to our mission from the very start. We have diligently embraced changes and updates in the field over the years, continuously integrating ESG values into our core operations.
This ongoing process has culminated in the creation of our first ESG report for 2024.
The report highlights our dedication to integrating Environmental, Social, and Governance principles into every aspect of our operations.
Our policies and practices reflect our commitment to sustainability and social responsibility. They focus on diversity, equity, inclusion, sustainable procurement, green initiatives, and extensive pro-bono and community outreach activities.

Through this report, we share our progress and highlight our initiatives:

  • Sustainability: Reducing carbon emissions, promoting energy efficiency, and adopting green practices.
  • Social: Community involvement, promoting equal opportunity, fair working conditions, and professional development for our employees.
  • Corporate governance: Strengthening risk management, privacy protection, corporate transparency, and ethical decision-making.

In alignment with our pledge to transparency and accountability, this report was prepared with reference to the standards established by the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). The process of creating this report was guided by our Head of Environment and ESG Practice, Adv. Daphna Shalev Korenblit, who has completed GRI Certified Training on Reporting with the GRI Standards.

As we launch our inaugural ESG report for 2024, we aspire not only to document our achievements thus far, but also to set ambitious targets for our continued evolution and impact in these crucial areas in the years to come.

Pro-Bono

At EBN, we place great emphasis on our firm’s involvement in promoting and protecting social causes. Our steadfast goal is to aid society’s underprivileged and underserved populations and promote values we strongly believe in, including the protection of human rights, equality, and personal liberties. We take great pride in the dedication of our partners, associates, interns, and staff in an array of pro bono cases, including representation before all legal instances and governmental entities, as well as in the numerous volunteering initiatives we partake in benefiting the underprivileged, elderly, and sick.

We are ranked by several ranking guides for being one of the leading law firms in pro bono and volunteering activities:

  • We are the first law firm in Israel ranked by Maala—Center for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in Israel. We have earned a platinum+ rating and the highest possible score for employees’ social engagement. Click here.
  • We are ranked by the prestigious Duns100 guide, which ranks leading law firms involved in pro bono work and community contributions.
  • Helpi organization ranked us at its highest ranking level as a Change Maker.

Darca Schools is committed to providing equal educational opportunities for youth and teens in Israel's underserved periphery. Our late senior partner Amnon Sorek, of blessed memory, was a member of the organization's board of governors. As part of our efforts to continue his legacy, our firm's real estate department has "adopted" a class at the Ashkelon Darca School. In this activity, our team gives the students select classes on legal topics and other matters.
We provide ongoing representation and legal services to Helek NGO – promoting and advocating volunteering in the community by younger generations.
We assist the “Fresh Start” organization in legal proceedings in which a new insolvency law is implemented and enforced against debtors below the poverty line.
We partake in the legal practicum training operated by Kav Mashve, which develops employment leadership in the Israeli Arab society. As part of the training program, partners and associates from our firm serve as mentors to several students from the Arab culture, accompanying and guiding them in performing legal tasks.
Our firm's team members often undertake case assignments under the Israel Bar Association's 'Pro Bono' program, primarily representing populations unable to afford legal representation in debt-related cases and contractual disputes.
We provide ongoing legal representation and assistance to NGOs that support the LGBTQ community, e.g., the Aguda - The Association for LGBTQ Equality and the Jerusalem Open House.
We cooperate with the international organization HIAS and other leading law firms; we provide legal aid to asylum seekers and refugees worldwide in deportation proceedings instigated against them. With the onset of the war in Ukraine in 2022, we came to the assistance of refugees who fled to Israel from Ukraine only to be confronted with restrictions and even prohibitions on entry (most of them with a clear nexus to Israel: children, women, and elderly). Thus, we assisted 22 refugees and represented refugees in a precedent-setting case where the judgment positively impacted the rights of all refugees.
We provide ongoing representation and legal services to the One Million Lobby, promoting and assisting the Russian-speaking community in Israel on issues related to the elderly, Holocaust survivors, social and economic security, and more.
We are significantly involved in supporting the activities of the Tel Aviv University clinic for the rights of Holocaust survivors and the elderly.
We provide ongoing representation and legal services to the SEL Challenge (SEL-Social Emotional Learning), a national competition for start-ups and technological ventures targeting education designed to promote and empower education in the State of Israel.
We support and provide services to “Yemin Orde” Youth Village and its graduates, most of whom are new immigrants to the country. As part of our support, attorneys and legal interns from the firm guide and accompany the school’s students in debate competitions.
As part of our cooperation with I-School NGO, volunteers from our firm coach on an ongoing basis and tutor elementary school pupils in Dimona in their math and English studies.
