Cellcom withdraws an appeal filed against Bezeq at the recommendation of the Supreme Court, thus ending Cellcom’s claim for millions

November 2018

At the recommendation of the Supreme Court judges, Cellcom has withdrawn an appeal filed against the District Court ruling, in which the District Court rejected a 34 million NIS lawsuit filed against Bezeq.

In a claim heard in the District Court, Cellcom demanded that Bezeq pay its interconnect fees for sending SMS messages from Bezeq to Cellcom subscribers at a price set in a 2004 agreement, even though this price was thousands percent higher than the price Cellcom charges from the other communication operators.

The District Court rejected Cellcom’s claim, due to the unreasonable and discriminatory price demanded by Cellcom, which harms free competition and therefore the public.

Cellcom appealed to the Supreme Court. During the hearing, after listening to its arguments, the Court recommended that Cellcom withdraw its appeal.

Bezeq was represented in these proceedings by attorneys Giora Erdinast, Nir Amodai, Modi Sherpsky and Almog Gil-Or from our firm.
